Apple, Arugula and Peach Smoothie

Apple, Arugula and Peach Smoothie

I know what you’re thinking. Arugula? In a smoothie? Sisley, you’ve gone crazy. That’s what I thought at first, too. Of course, I’ve had arugula in green juices before, and I love arugula in any kind of salad, burger topping, etc. but I never even thought twice to put it in a smoothie. However, I had a big leftover box of arugula in my fridge that needed to be used up…so, why not blend it up?

The first sip was like, “Oh…hmm…umm…spicy? No.” Another sip. “Tangy? No. Peppery? Sort of…” Another sip. “Delicious? Yes! Wow.” So, in conclusion: don’t be alarmed by the first sip because it ends up being freaking delicious. Promise.

PS: how do you like my awesome new jars & straws from ikea? Best place on earth.

This past month in Berlin has been crazy. It feels as though only a week has gone by! I’ve met some pretty cool people but it was all getting a bit too hectic for me. I was feeling unsettled, living with friends/out of my suitcase (thank you, friends!), but now I have officially moved into my apartment- yahoo. I am living in the most beautiful flat in an adorable neighbourhood with a giant park across the street aka perfection. I get plenty of sunlight in my room plus a little balcony. I am one lucky duckling. Today was Sunday, which means (in Germany) that all of the stores are closed. Luckily, I went on a huge (and I mean huge) grocery haul yesterday. This included stopping at 3 different stores. Yeah. So today I had the whole day to myself to relax in the kitchen. This smoothie was the first creation I made and I would love to share it with you all today!

Arugula is actually low in calories but has many nutritional benefits. It is packed with Vitamin K, antioxidants, and helps reduce inflammation in the body. What a beautiful little green leaf! To get the most chlorophyll out of arugula, it is best to eat it raw. This is why I packed it into my smoothie today. The apple really levels the taste out, the peach makes it sweet and the banana thickens it up. What a perfect combo! I also think adding a few cucumber slices in here would be delicious. Hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed making it! x
