“Back to Basics” Smoothie

“Back to Basics” Smoothie

Hey, guess what? I have officially moved to Berlin. That’s right- the magical city of vegan hipsters. But actually, I’ve never seen so many vegan hipsters in my life. But don’t get me wrong- this city is absolutely amazing. Filled with quirky peeps, tons of culture, and an explosion of vegan friendly restaurants (this makes me happy). A few of my favourite things so far are the Turkish markets in Kreuzberg, the crisp & cold weather (I don’t really miss the rain, sorry Vancouver!), the amount of walking I do in the city and of course, the people (everyone is so welcoming).

I am seriously going insane without my kitchen and all of my bulk coconut sugars, almond flour, maca powder, etc. etc. and of course, my blender. Luckily my new blender arrives in the mail next week just in time for me to move into my new flat (Woohoo!). In the meantime, the friend I am living with has an adorable little baby blender which I can happily use to make mini smoothies with.

I am living on a super-tight budget at the moment so this is what I’ve been making for many of my breakfast. As well as oats, because you can never go wrong with a bowl of oats.

I like to call this smoothie the “Back to Basics” Smoothie because it is budget-friendly and super simple to make. Plus, everyone loves it (even the pickiest eaters!). I would like to introduce this smoothie to any smoothie beginners out there- this one will save you. It literally takes 2-5 minutes to make (depending on how speedy you are in the mornings) and is loaded with antioxidants and only a few yummy ingredients. Hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed making it! x
