I am a firm believer of everything happening for a reason. My motto was proven today as I biked home with 12 pounds of strawberries, which I happened to purchase for a whopping $7.74 – that’s ….$1.29 per 2-pound box of California strawberries…. If you’ve grocery shopped in Vancouver, you will know this is a MASSIVE steal.
All week I’ve been making a killer strawberry milkshake for breakfast with bananas, frozen strawberries, spinach and lots of fun things like maca powder, hemp seeds. flax seeds, chia seeds, almond butter, etc. and it’s really gotten me back on the strawberry wagon, which I’m pretty happy about. I crave strawberries in my smoothie every day now! Just as I was pondering on the fact that strawberries were just a little expensive (especially in the winter months), I heard about my local produce store having this awesome sale. Naturally, I had to buy 6 cases, and I will most likely be back for more tomorrow!
For creaminess in the milkshake, I use The Juicery Co.’s brazil nut mylk or almond mylk (both are great), but I usually make my own almond milk if I have the time. Homemade almond mylk makes a huge difference and is so much better than the store bought stuff (both taste wise and nutrient wise). If you guys are interested in how to make your own almond mylk at home, leave a comment and I’ll make a video for you!
