3-Day Pure Life Detox Plan

This month, my partner and I have embarked on a cleanse. This cleanse was designed by myself, with my knowledge that I’ve learned from my holistic nutrition program, where I am on my way to becoming a RHN (eek!). The cleanse was built to address many things, but mainly just to simply boost energy levels, rid of any junk that has built-up in my body (I got a little addicted to vegan junk food this year) and to kickstart healthy eating patterns for the new season! To me, a cleanse is by no means meant for weight loss; only to make me feel good, energized and fabulous – ya feel? 

I have decided to embark on this 1 month “cleanse” at a very slow and steady pace, as I have never actually restricted sugars, gluten and refined foods all at once before. I will mostly be focusing on adding tons of fresh organic fruits and veggies, juicing and blending as much as I can to go easy on my digestion. Also including tons of fibrous foods, some healthy fats and plant-based proteins. I will also be avoiding high allergenic foods such as peanut butter, corn and soy. My partner does not follow a vegan diet so instead he will be focusing on nutrient dense fruits & veg, smaller amounts of good quality organic animal proteins, legumes and healthy fats, cutting out dairy, gluten, sugar and alcohol to the best he can. During this time we will be following a 1 month yoga challenge, trying out classes like hot yoga and spin to sweat out as many toxins as possible, focus on mindfulness and get back into a healthy fitness routine. I recommend something like yoga, light jogging, brisk walking etc. during your cleanse time. 

The words “cleanse” and “detox” often are associated with weight loss, low-calorie and calorie restrictions, bland foods etc. but I just want to make it clear that if you are looking for something along those lines, this is NOT the post for you!! This detox menu is packed with flavourful nutrient-dense foods to fuel your body, mind and soul. Sound good? Now proceed. 

3 Day Cleanse

I have written this post because many people come to me looking for a “reboot” or a healthy eating kickstarter. I want to give you guys some ideas for healthy homemade meals that are super easy to make and taste delicious! The 3-Day Pure Life Detox Plan below is strictly plant-based and gluten-free. This is so you can give your digestive system a break and focus on the beautiful phytonutrients we get from plants! This guide does not restrict calories. Eat as many servings you like until you are satisfied. Each day includes carbohydrates from fruits & vegetables, and a bit of healthy fat and protein from plant-based foods like hemp seeds, avocado, nut butter, legumes, etc. If you wish to add more fats I suggest adding more hemp seeds, coconut oil, flax seed oil, walnuts, almond butter, etc. If you wish to add more protein I suggest adding more lentils, chickpeas, pinto beans, hemp protein powder in your smoothies or tempeh. This plan is also pretty fruit-heavy, which works well for lots of people, but if you find that you crave more veggies, I recommend adding more veg such as Peppers, Carrots, Cucumber, Radishes, Artichokes, Herbs (Basil, Cilantro, Parsley, Mint), Sweet Potato/Yams, Beets, Broccoli, Zucchini, Cauliflower, Leafy Greens (Spinach, Kale, Collards, Dandelion Greens, Chard, Romaine). You can swap out bananas for Kiwis or Peaches if you aren’t a fan. Make it fun, make it your own! 3 Day CLeanse (1)

Day 1

Breakast: A big glass of warm lemon water and a Tropical Green Smoothie with added celery, cucumber and fresh herbs

Snack: Energizing Detox Juice with added fresh mint and a lime. Can sub Grapefruit for Apples. 

Lunch: Zucchini Noodles with Spinach Pesto  

Snack: Creamy Tahini Hummus with Mary’s GF Crackers, Radishes and Carrot Sticks

Dinner: Detox Quinoa Salad with a bowl of Sweet Potato Soup

Dessert: 5 Minute Banana Raspberry Ice Cream, split between two people

3 Day CLeanse (2)

Day 2

Breakfast: A big glass of warm lemon water and The Best Beet Berry Smoothie with added spinach and beet greens/tops.

Snack: Pineapple Avocado Smoothie (recipe serves 2)

Lunch: Comforting Chickpea & Kale Hash

Snack: A bowl of Kale & Potato Soup

Dinner: Spiced Yellow Lentil Dhal with big leafy greens salad on the side

Snack: A cup of Peppermint Tea and Chocolate Coconut Bliss Balls if craving something sweet

3 Day CLeanse Kale

Day 3

Breakfast: A big glass of warm lemon water and Protein Packed Blueberry Breakfast Smoothie with 2 big handfuls added spinach.

Snack: Spinach & Spirulina Smoothie (with 1/2 banana instead of 4) Sub frozen Blueberries for Banana if desired.

Lunch: Mint & Pineapple Cauliflower Tabbouleh

Snack: Creamy Tahini Hummus with Mary’s GF Crackers, Radishes and Carrot Sticks

Dinner: Comforting Spaghetti Bolognese (On spaghetti squash instead of pasta)

Dessert: 1 Coconut Rasperry Popsicle (replace maple syrup with rose water) or bowl of fresh berries

Other things to add into your cleanse:

  • 1 tbsp raw Aloe Vera Juice in the morning to soothe intestinal tract
  • 1 tsp Maca Powder in your morning smoothie to balance out hormones
  • 1 cup of warm water with 1 tbsp Apple Cider Vinegar before meals to boost digestive enzymes
  • 1 tsp Nettle Leaf  in your morning smoothie to help detox
  • Herbal Teas (Peppermint, Holy Basil, Green Tea & Yerba Mate, Roiboos)
