This smoothie is one of my favourites because I’m a sucker for bananas. I like to use extra-ripe bananas to create a creamier texture and to get a stronger flavour. The dates are rich in vitamins and minerals like potassium and magnesium while making the smoothie oh, so sweet! Bananas are another excellent source of potassium and are a perfect morning-coffee substitution (energy boost!!). Adding cinnamon in this recipe is a perfect way to get in an extra superfood for the day by possibly reducing inflammation. I like to drink this smoothie as a mid-morning/afternoon snack, or as a dessert after a light dinner.
- 2 ripe bananas, frozen
- 2 medjool dates, pitted
- 1 cup soy or almond milk
- 1/2 cup ice cubes or water
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp nutmeg
- 1/2 cup Cinnamon Crunch granola
- Mix all ingredients in blender and serve in a chilled jar.
- Medjool dates are much creamier than regular dates. If using regular dates, soak in water for a few hours first to get optimal deliciousness.
