December Round-Up: My 8 Favourite Things

1. TUT: Notes from The Universe  http://www.tut.com/Inspiration/nftu

I’ve been receiving these little inspirational personalized messages from “the universe” for about a year now. I love the positivity in each message and they honestly make me strive to do better each and every day. It’s free to sign up and they put you in a great mood each morning! Sometimes they are completely spot on, it’s crazay.

2. Hask Macadamia Oil Hair Mask  http://haskbeauty.com/

I’ve been using this little guy every evening after a long beach day here in the Seychelles. My hair is noticeably softer and it smells fabulous. I love giving my hair a little spa treatment, especially since it has gotten so long! Helllooo mermaid hair!

3. XHit Workout Videos- https://www.youtube.com/xhit

This Youtube channel changed my life. Although they aren’t producing any new videos, the XHit videos are fantastic. They are short, easy to do at home and the instructors are super fun. My favourite workout is the “Washboard Abs Workout” and “Miley Cyrus Leg Workout”.

4. Paddywax Travel Tin Candles – http://www.paddywax.com/Shop/Travel_Tins

These little tin candles are possibly the best invention ever. You can pack them in your suitcase or keep them on your bedside table or bathroom for an easy relaxation tool. Candles really help bring me back to centre and paired with a cup of mint tea, they help with any sort of stress or anxiety. I love the Pineapple & Ginger scent and Vanilla & Wild Fig.

5. Pure Ella – http://pureella.com/

This veggie lovin mama has some serious talent. All her recipes are incredible and her photography is beautiful. I turn to Pure Ella for inspiration every day! Plus we’ve got something in common… #pure

6. Flash Tattoos – http://www.flashtat.com/

I tend to fall in love with little things like this. I love the simplicity of the tattoos. They aren’t “too flashy” and add a cool touch to any outfit, especially a bikini! They are easy to use and stay on for a solid 3-4 days…one of the tattoos has even survived a surfboard leash! I will definitely be ordering more sets for summer in Vancouver.

7. Daluma – http://www.daluma.de/

Best raw vegan food in Berlin! The salads are unreal and the smoothies are also to die for. My favourite picks are the mushroom hemp quinoa salad or the sundried tomato and arugula salad with the dr. feel good smoothie, you really can’t go wrong. Cool staff, good music and communal seating. Totally reasonable prices for delicious, nourishing food. Even if you’re not vegan, I promise you will love this place.

8. Vanilla

Vanilla essence/extract is difficult to come by in Berlin. I found bottles of pure, hand-packed vanilla essence here on the daily market on Mahé which I have fallen in love with, once again. I love vanilla in just about anything. I love to add it to smoothies, oats, baking or in banana ice cream. I love adding vanilla to this smoothie and these muffins

Vanilla Oats:

1/2 cup oats

1 cup water

1 tsp vanilla extract/essence or seeds from 1/4 of a vanilla bean

1 tsp cinnamon

1/4 cup coconut milk, to serve

1/2 banana, sliced, to serve

Add all ingredients to a saucepan and stir until warm and creamy. Add the coconut milk and banana last.
